Are You Hiding Your True Self?

Blog Image #4When someone asks you what you do for a living, how do you answer?

Do you respond with your job title? Your recent accomplishments? Your freshly memorized networking spiel?

And when you give this answer, how real is it? How closely does it represent your passions, your most current lifestyle choices or your personal spiritual practice?

If you are like most people, you put on a mask and respond with the safest answer. The one that will put you in the best light and be the least likely to make you a target for judgment, criticism and exclusion.

And I get it.

Who in their right mind would volunteer to be the next Cady Heron from Mean Girls…before she became a part of the oh-so-cool Plastics group?!

Except…

Do you notice the tension that tugs at your heart when you hide parts of yourself from those around you? The little voice that screams “No…not again!” when you meet someone new and finally have a chance to represent yourself with 100% accuracy – but instead you fall back on your robot-like script?

I do.

Confession time.

You already know me as a Life Coach, Confidence Coach, Trainer and whatever other clever titles you can find on my website!

But did you also know that I can (and do) read Akashic Records for people? That over the years, I have developed the ability to expand my intuition and tap into the collective consciousness? That through this gift, I can gain access to information (kind of like going to a virtual library!) that can help you understand your life purpose, why certain challenges keep showing up in your life, what you can do to finally break through your fears and so much more?

Probably not. Because up until recently, I have only spoken about it in ‘safe’ places and it only takes up about 10% of the space on my website (check it out here)!

Here’s the lesson I want to share with you today.

The moment I started integrating and expressing all parts of me to the world, a massive weight lifted off my shoulders. Things started falling into place easily and effortlessly. That Smeagol sounding voice finally stopped screeching “Liieeess!” in my ear! I felt alive – as if a dam had been broken and the river of life was finally able to flow through me once again.

So what are you waiting for?

What parts of YOU are you hiding behind a mask? What parts are dying to be expressed so that you can feel fully alive?

This week’s mission: Give your passions, hobbies, spiritual practices and personal lifestyle choices space to breathe and come alive! Are you an aspiring painter underneath that lab coat? A dancer behind those spreadsheets? Or maybe a closet vegetarian stuck in a carnivorous corporate cafeteria?

Start talking about it. Declare it to anyone who will listen and just feel the aliveness coming back into your life!

And of course, I would love to hear from you! What gift or talent do you have that you have been keeping a secret? Be sure to leave a comment below and share it with our supportive community!

Let’s take our masks off together.

So true. Excellent post. Its easy to identify with a “job title” but we are so much more! When we begin to accept our talents as gifts we will be less likely to hide them.
